Working internationally is challenging: sustainability, logistics, creating public interest at home, and bridging cultural divides abroad are all significant tasks.
Open Hand Studios recognizes these issues, and is committed to solving them head on because our mission seeks a preferential option for the poor.
Destruction of cultural heritage occurs worldwide, but the pace is accelerating much more rapidly in developing countries than the Western world. Many impoverished people also lack the means to tell their stories in an increasingly technology-based global society. And perhaps most clearly, working for economic justice requires engaging vast income and power differences between rich and poor peoples.
However, Open Hand takes a project-based approach that allows us to meet these goals by addressing specific needs of our partners. We get to know communities first, building strong relationships that connect all parties to participate directly in transformative and lasting social change.
