Open Hand Studios is dedicated to promoting social justice by creating economically viable museum projects that empower developing communities worldwide to independently protect, manage, and communicate their material and intangible cultural heritage to the international public.
We partner with these communities, academics, and others to build hands-on, traveling physical exhibitions and virtual media that illuminate and celebrate peoples often unknown to Westerners. We return the profits of these endeavors—and the exhibit material—directly to the communities who provide their cultural knowledge and objects. Doing so helps our collaborators better meet their economic and social needs.
